Who says amazing things can’t come from mom & baby play groups?! Lizzy and Nicole met through a locally organized play group about a year ago when their toddlers were infants. This amazing group of diverse moms gathered regularly around the shared experience of new parenthood. They visited each other’s homes, explored local parks and play spaces, shared articles on controversial and thought-provoking parenting topics, discussed the challenges and joys of having new babies, and supported each other through their own unique family’s experiences.
They all made very different choices and had very different experiences when it came to their parenting journeys. One thing they did share was a willingness to be open to and supportive of each other’s choices and experiences. Inspired by this group and the many other insightful online communities they frequent, Nicole and Lizzy developed Inspired Family!

Mom, wife, part-time literacy consultant for Scholastic, part-time baby sign language instructor & special education teacher on hiatus while raising her toddler – Nicole wears many hats, as many of us do today. Professionally, she holds a Masters in Urban Education and Special Education, completed her Cross-cultural Language And Academic Development (CLAD) certification from Stanford University and most recently achieved certification in Baby Signs® Programs. After living in the San Francisco Bay Area, Nicole & her family moved to Philadelphia in 2012 while she was 7 months pregnant. New to the area, she did her own research about the best prenatal yoga studios, where to buy cloth diapers, which midwives to deliver with, etc. To her relief there is a wealth of support in her new community of wonderfully caring, like-minded families and knowledgeable, local resources.
This incredibly inspiring network shared in her celebrations and was a shoulder to lean on during her first year of parenting. Eager to help others connect to the vast prenatal, infancy & toddlerhood resources that Philadelphia has to offer, Nicole is thrilled that through collaboration with Lizzy, Inspired Family was born.
