My daughter’s minor eczema started when she was a couple of months old (as many of you know she is now 21 months old). She would get rough patches under her armpits and on the backs of her knees. Luckily, she never had an itching or discomfort from it. My research (can’t stop researching EVERYTHING!!!) uncovered a list of possible causes, as well as many remedies. Most suggestions included preventative measures (like dietary changes), and ideas for addressing outbreaks (like creams, lotions, oils, etc.) Although we have tried many things, we have been unable to pinpoint the exact cause of our daughter’s eczema. It also ebbs and flows; often there is no trace of it, and then it suddenly creeps up as a little surprise with no warning.

Needless to say, I was super excited when aden&anais offered to send us a product from their Baby Exederm line. We received two items:

Unfortunately the fare up control cream is only appropriate for use in children over the age of 2, so we have to wait to try that one out. We put the body wash to use immediately! I have to admit, I was impressed by the list of “NOs” in the product:

No Fragrance
No Color or Dyes
No Parabens
No Lanolin
No Propylene Glycol
No Formaldehyde
No Cocamidopropyl

Every crunchy parent, from semi to whole heartedly, LOVES a list of “NOs” like this on a potential skin care product. Environmental Working Group’s (EWG) Skin Deep Cosmetics Database gave it a 1, the highest rating possible. Check out that review here:

Exederm Baby Eczema Wash is described as:

* Gently cleanses delicate skin
* Non-drying and soap free
* Avoids sodium laureate sulfate (this is what creates foam or bubbles, and is often a skin irritant).
* Ideal for children of all ages
* Ultra sensitive non-irritating formula

We found all of these things to be true. It is a simple cleanser, without the harsh fragrances and chemicals of many others. Check out this comparison chart:

I cannot post a before and after shot of how this product impacted my daughter’s skin. Exederm Baby Eczema Wash is not marketed as a cure all for your child’s eczema, but it is an excellent option for daily skin cleansing when you want to avoid the irritants found in most other children’s skin care products.

Disclosure:  We received samples of Exederm to facilitate this review and were not compensated.  As always, all opinions expressed here are our own!
