We, at Inspired Family, have had the pleasure of getting connected with Heather Von St. James, Mesothelioma survivor.  At 36, and just 3 months after giving birth to her daughter, Heather was given 15 months to live.  She was diagnosed with pleural Mesothelioma and fought to survive.  After undergoing a risky surgery, which required the removal of her left lung, Heather beat the odds.  She is now an 8 year Mesothelioma cancer survivor and creator of LungLeavin’ Day as a way to commemorate the day that changed her life forever.

LungLeavin’ Day is held on February 2nd & is a beautiful, inspiring way to help overcome your fears.  It is used to encourage others to face their fears! Each year, Heather gathers around a fire in her backyard with her friends and family, write their biggest fears on a plate and smash them into the fire. They celebrate for those who are no longer with us, for those who continue to fight, for those who are currently going through a tough time in their life, and most importantly, they celebrate life!  How truly inspiring!!

February 2nd might have come and gone, but we are thrilled to help Heather continue to spread the word about LungLeavin’ Day.  Heather should be thrilled that her strength and determination have helped Lung Leavin’ Day grow bigger every year.  Now it has become a fundraiser for Mesothelioma awareness. Last year more than 75 people attended & they raised over $4,500.
